Rockland County New York borders northern New Jersey and is, in some parts, less than 22 miles from New York City. The MetroNorth/NJTransit train and Shortline Bus stops serve as the two primary mass transit options in Rockland County. Because the county is so close to New York City many residents also opt to travel by car.
When the weather permits, a ferry in the Town of Haverstraw crosses the Hudson River to the MetroNorth train station in Ossining. The Ossining train arrives at Grand Central Station in 45 – 60 minutes with no train changes in between.
Rockland County is an ideal home for other commuters as well with Northern New Jersey just five minutes away and White Plains (Westchester) a short 30 minute drive.

Iona Island - Stony Point, NY
Rockland features an abundant number of parks and recreational activities.
